The Sink Basin Is the One Place You Should Get Right from the Start
Many people, drawn by aesthetics, choose the trendy integrated岩板 (sintered stone) basins. They do look stunning in photos and exude a premium feel. But after a few months of use, you'll find that the right-angled seams where the stone panels are joined are a magnet for grime. Over time, black mold and dirt build up in those crevices, requiring weekly scrubbing with a small brush. In some cases, the bottom panel can even detach.
In contrast, those seemingly "ordinary" high-temperature fired ceramic integrated basins are actually the tried-and-true practical choice. Their seamless curved design leaves no place for dirt to hide—just wipe them clean with a damp cloth. Remember, the basin depth should be no less than 15 cm, with 18 to 20 cm being ideal, so water doesn't splash out when you wash your face.

Materials and Installation Determine How Long It Lasts
The bathroom's humidity is the biggest enemy of your vanity. If you choose medium-density fiberboard (MDF), the cabinet doors will likely warp and peel within a year or two due to moisture damage. If your budget allows, multi-layer solid wood is a cost-effective choice with good moisture resistance. For even higher quality, opt for solid wood cabinets with a six-sided baked paint finish.
When it comes to installation, a wall-mounted + concealed drain setup is highly recommended. Floor-standing cabinets accumulate dust and hair underneath, and mops can't reach in, creating a persistent cleaning blind spot. A wall-mounted cabinet suspended at least 30 cm off the floor lets robot vacuums glide underneath with ease. Combined with a concealed drain pipe hidden within the wall, the entire bathroom instantly feels more spacious, and you can even stash items like a basin or bathroom scale underneath.
Mirror Cabinets and Hardware: Details Make All the Difference
A plain mirror only reflects your image; your countertop will soon be cluttered with bottles and jars. Upgrade to an intelligent mirror cabinet—its 12–15 cm interior depth offers ample storage for skincare products. Close the mirror door, and the countertop stays neat and tidy. Models with one-touch defogging and built-in LED lighting let you see yourself clearly right after a shower, and they're a game-changer for applying makeup.
Lastly, never skimp on hardware. Ordinary hinges rust quickly in a humid bathroom. Look for 304 stainless steel hinges with dampening mechanisms—they open and close smoothly and silently, lasting for years. A pull-out faucet (gravity-type) is also a smart choice for washing your hair or rinsing the basin.
The right bathroom vanity is the start of every graceful morning and the end of every relaxing evening. Putting thought into these often-overlooked details during renovation will make you grateful for your choices every single day.
